Trade Chief Urges Protection Of Employees' Rights
China's trade union chief has urged trade unions to enhance efforts in protecting employees' legitimate rights and interests.
In the past month accidents at a number of mines and at a chemical plant in China have raised concerns that China's agencies and businesses are not doing enough to protect the welfare of its workers.
Xinhua reports that Wang Zhaoguo, chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), made the remark at a related meeting on Saturday.
He stressed that all trade unions should coordinate with government departments to deal with workers' delayed wage payments.
The chairman has also noted that work safety should be tightened to prevent major accidents.
