Haagen-Dazs And Kraft Targeted In China CSR Report
A new report from China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) says that many foreign companies have been avoiding social responsibility in China.MOFCOM's Transnational Corporation Research Center commissioned the report, which criticized 12 foreign companies for problems in 2005.
A People's Daily article says the report mentioned Haagen-Dazs' "dirty kitchen" and Kraft biscuits that contained genetically engineered ingredients.
The article quotes part of the report and says, "many such [foreign] firms had brought to China the ideas of capital, technology, modern corporate management, corporate social and environmental responsibility, but some of them had neglected their social responsibility, or even did something in violation of social responsibility and moral code."
