Travel Quality Among Top Ten Complaints

China's Quality Supervision Department has released the top ten quality complaints of 2005, and complaints over travel service quality are among the biggest gripes from consumers.
The data shows that there were 871 major complaints over travel quality in the year, accounting for 6% of the total complaints, an increase of 7% over the previous year.
Customers mainly complained about six aspects of travel service: travel agencies' false claims, alteration of travel routes without prior notice, charging extra fees, lowering living or food standards, transferring tourist to another group and promoting products that have nothijg to do with tourism.
A latest survey by the department shows that 68.5% of people have had unhappy travel experiences in China, of which 30.3% of people do not like shopping activities arranged by the tour guides, 19.5% dislike tour guides adding extra paid sites and 15% were unpleased with tour guides selling goods to them.
