Hainan Travel Agencies Agree Not To Undercut Prices
More than 100 travel agencies in Hainan Province have signed a convention to voluntarily maintain certain standards.
The convention requires travel agencies to organize tourist groups at a price no less than their cost, sign a formal travel contract with tourists to guarantee the service quality, strictly follow the commission rules and not cause unfair competition.
Some travel agencies in Hainan have been offering very low prices in order to attract more tourists, and this has disturbed the market order.
The cost for Hainan trips, therefore, is expected to be increased with the implementation of this convention.
The convention will take effect on May 8, 2006.
