Henan Province Issues Preferential Housing Policies For Migrant Workers
The Construction Department of Henan Province has issued orders to help solve problems encountered by migrant workers when they try to find housing.
Migrant workers who have paid into their house reservation fund for a consecutive five years are eligible to apply for a housing loan which has a lower interest rate compared with ordinary bank loans.
The new rules also require that all construction companies who are undertaking projects in Henan Province must buy insurance for migrant workers they hire.
The new rules not only include migrant workers into the city public service system, but also allow them access to the housing insurance system.
The Construction Department says it will work with local agencies to offer low-cost residences for migrant workers to rent, and it encourages companies to build collective dormitories in cities where there are many migrant workers.
