Beijing May Provide Free Premarital Medical Exams
Jin Dapeng, director of the Beijing Municipal Public Health Department, says that the Beijing Municipal Finance Department is researching the possibility of offering free premarital checkups in China's capital city.
The free service is still under discussion among various government departments and is awaiting approval from the municipal government.
The proposal for promoting free premarital checkups in part of the counties and districts of Beijing was put forward by eight representatives at the Beijing CPC Conference at the beginning of this year.
Since China's Marriage Registration Rule has not listed pre-marriage medical checks as mandatory, some couples currently choose to save money and not undergo the examination before they get married.
