China Launches Tibetan Forest Protection Program
The 11th Five-Year Plan Tibetan Forest Protection Program has been formally launched.
Jia Zhibang, director general of China's State Forest Bureau, points out that Tibet is the natural security stronghold for China and continual aid to contributes to the development of Tibetan economy.
Li Yucai, the deputy director general of State Forest Bureau, says that during the next five years, the forest aid work in Tibet must strengthen the protection of natural forest resources and continue to carry out forestation and sand defense and control.
Investment in sustaining Tibet's forests during the next five years wil reach over RMB850 million.
