Shenzhen Online Media Form Self-Discipline Alliance
Thirty online media companies operating in Shenzhen, including Shenzhen News, Tencent, and sz.net.cn, have set up an online media association and signed a self-discipline agreement to promote socially responsible online services.
Initiated by Shenzhen News and managed by Shenzhen Municipal Propaganda Department, the Shenzhen Online Media Association is made up of businesses, entities and individuals who are dedicated to pushing forward the development of Shenzhen's Internet industry.
Lin Qing, director of the association, says that they will largely enforce online media regulations within their membership.
Since its first Internet service organization was established in 1993, Shenzhen has been home to up to 28000 websites and more than 6 million active users.
