Netcafe Proposal To Limit Computer Game Operation Time
Liu Pengzhi, a member of the Beijing Political Consultative Committee, has submitted a proposal at this year's two sessions calling on netcafes to set time limits for teenagers playing games at netcafes.
Liu has told local media that game addiction is a kind of psychological problem which is caused by an "empty lifestyle" among China's youth.
Liu suggests that the government strengthen management of netcafes and websites by setting up a special supervision department to enforce monitoring over them and strictly limiting the operational hours of netcafes to better provide a healthy environment for teenagers.
Liu's proposal has been quickly responded to by the China Youth League, which has promised to hold further consultations with appropriate legislative departments to draft a regulatory framework targeted at netcafes operating networked games.
