Websites Help Poor Chinese Students
Fourteen websites in China, including people.com.cn, xinhuanet.com, china.com.cn and cctv.com, have issued a proposal to support students from underprivileged families.
These websites have together committed to provide funds to over 10000 underprivileged students to finish their studies.
The websites are calling on government agencies, organizations, enterprises and individuals to donate to the students, and they say they are making full use of their advantages as online media to mobilize society to participate in the activity.
China has increased investment in education in recent years to support underprivileged students. However, according to the websites, there are still 40 million poor students who are in need of help each year.
