CFHRD Wants More Support For Children Of Prisoners
The China Foundation for Human Rights Development has called on more attention to be paid to the lives of children whose parents are in jail.
A representative from CFHRD says that the children of prisoners are the biggest group of potential juvenile delinquents. They often lack acceptable care and supervision after their parents are put into prison and may easily become criminals themselves.
A report from CFHRD says there are more than 600,000 prisoners' children who are now teenagers, and 94.8% of them do not have sufficient financial and familial support.
CFHRD is asking local governments around China to take responsibility for establishing an adoption and education system for these criminals' children.
