Following reports earlier this year that Carrefour stores in Shanghai were selling stale bread, bad shrimp and fake Louis Vuitton bags, Carrefour has once again put to the spotlight for selling "unqualified" clothing.
Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has recently carried out an investigation on the quality of clothing, and the results show that "Jazz Polo" T-shirts sold at the Carrefour Jinqiao store in Shanghai have incorrect labels. The labels show the T-shirts are 100% cotton, when instead they are a blend of cotton and polyester.
SMBQTS says these unqualified T-shirts are supplied by Shangtou Jazz Polo Yuandong Clothing Company and it will further investigate the issue.
Carrefour plans to open 100 supermarkets all over the world this year, and 20 of them will be located in China.
