A representative from the Guangzhou Municipal Price Bureau disclosed that they would carry out a price check starting on September 22 to ensure the market price for travel services remained stable during the National Day Holiday and the 100th Guangzhou Trade Fair.
The representative said that the check will be conducted in two phases: the first phase is from September 22 to September 30 when travel agencies, parks and scenic spots will be checked. The second phase lasts from October 15 to October 31 when hotels will be checked.
During the first phase, the pricing department will check travel agencies for unregulated pricing. Parks and scenic spots will need to follow the pricing guidelines issued in the government's price guide.
During the second phase, the check will focus on whether hotels and agencies implement the room rate standards made by the pricing department. They will also monitor if hotels earn the commission from telecom services and ticket booking services according to relevant standards and whether hotels offer a published price for room rates.
