Inner Mongolia-based Meng Niu Dairy has been warned by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad for using an image which is similar to the five rings' logo of the Olympic Games.
In its advertising campaign called "Meng Niu Inter Cities", Meng Niu used a pattern which looked like the five-ring Olympic Logo. As a result, it has received this warning from the Marketing Department of BOCOG.
China's government agencies may take charge of dealing with this situation if Meng Niu does not take proper measures to fix the logo.
Lin Tong, spokesman of Meng Niu, says that the "Meng Niu Inter Cities" is jointly carried out by the social sports center of Administration of Sport of China, CCTV5 and Meng Niu with the permission of ASC. Therefore, Meng Niu says it has not violated any law or regulation.
He Yi, a principal of the social community sport center of ASC, says that they are now discussing with BOCOG about this issue, and Meng Niu may change its advertising if it is believed to be violating the intellectual property of Olympic Games.
Meng Niu is not a sponsor of the 2008 Olympic Games, therefore it is not allowed to use any logo or characters related to the sports.
