InterContinental Hotels Group Plans Beijing Charity Activity
InterContinental Hotels Group in Beijing, supported by hotels in Tianjin and Qinhuangdao, are organizing the first Save the Children Charity Golf Trophy on October 20, 2006 at the Tianzhu Golf Course Beijing.
With the joint strength of twelve hotels and the support of over twenty companies, organizations and suppliers, an ambitious target has been set to raise funding for the work of Save the Children China for building a school for disabled children in Anhui Province.
Save the Children is working on projects with over twenty China provinces and municipalities to improve social services for children with physical or learning disabilities. Disabled children are broadly united through their circumstances, which reveal problems of social exclusion due to discrimination. Their problems might include the abandonment of children, separation or exclusion from school provision, under-achievement at school, social stigma, and isolation from family and community life. In sum, they are helping disabled children from failing to receive the attention they need to develop to their full potential.
Individual players can join with a contribution of RMB988, and lucky draw prices such as a golf weekend in Sanya and a Mercedes Benz for a player who hits a hole-in-one are available.
"We have proven that as a team of hotels we are stronger and we have made a corporate commitment to take an active involvement in local community issues, especially in supporting underprivileged children in need of education," says Michael Wu, Regional General Manager of InterContinental Hotels Group.
