Beijing Tourism Industry Straightening Out Unfair Competition
From now until March 2007, the Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau will conduct a comprehensive examination of the city's travel market, with a focus on unfair market competition.
During the period, the tourism department will check for unfair competitive practices, like pricing of hotel rooms or tour group packages that are lower than the normal market price. They will also look for fake advertisements and illegal commissions or bribes.
The Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau has released a notice to all the travel organizations, and tourism departments requiring them to cooperate. Those who are suspected of illegal behavior will be transferred to the public security department for punishment.
