Carrefour To Open Green Supermarket In Beijing
Carrefour, the largest retailer in Europe and the second largest retailer in the world, is planning to set up a green shopping mall on the 4th ring road in Beijing before 2008.
This green supermarket will feature "green" materials, technology and designs in its decoration. Carrefour will make great efforts in having all the materials in the store helpful to protecting the environment. The store will also be located in a property purchased by Carrefour.
This is the first time that Carrefour has purchased a property for the purpose of opening a new store in Beijing. The company says it purchased the property to give it more freedom to meet relevant environmental standards.
As one of the retailing giants in the world, Carrefour has four leading business patterns including hypermarket, supermarket, hard discount and convenience store. Entering China in 1995, Carrefour has more than 60 stores around the country.
