The Great Wall Protection Rule Takes Effect
The Great Wall Protection Rule, the first special rule that was rolled out to protect a single historical tourist site in China, has been formally put into force.
Meanwhile, the Beijing Administration of Culture Heritage has also decided to revise the Beijing Municipal Great Wall Protection and Management Measure, the first local regulation regarding the protection of the Great Wall which has put the protection of the Great Wall, because there are some conflicts between the new rule and the old measure.
Kong Fanshi, director of BACH, says that BACH has asked the Beijing Municipal government to check the differences between the two regulations and to follow the newer rule, in case of conflict.
The coming out of the Great Wall Protection Rule is expected to initiate a start for legalizing cultural relic protection and to maintain China's great tourism resources. It is expected that more special rules on the protection of single historical sites such as the Great Canal and the Silk Road will be worked out soon.
