The Office of the State Council Working Committee to Combat AIDS, China's Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Civil Affairs have decided to jointly carry out an activity among teenagers in China to combat HIV and AIDS.

Local media report that the parties will establish a cooperative mechanism for preventing the spread of AIDS from mothers to babies and strengthening the training of staff who manage the technology preventing AIDS. They will also focus on education among teenagers, and hopefully instill good values that will lead them through the rest of their lives.

Medical institutions will be encouraged to offer free consultations, physical examinations, pre-birth guides and regular visits for pregnant women and their babies who have been infected by AIDS and provide them with free anti-retroviral drugs.

In addition, anti-discrimination activities will be planned, focusing on families and communities. Part of this will be to enhance the protection provided to children whose parents die of AIDS.
