Following American famous fast food chains Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonald's cessation of trans fat use, Starbucks in Beijing says that their food sold in China market does not contain any trans fat.

Half of Starbucks outlets in the United States have already stopped using trans fat in donuts and muffins, and the rest will also abandon the use of trans fatty acids after a transitional period.

A representative from the Starbucks Kerry Center store told local media that Starbucks hasn't introduced any trans fatty acid food to China, and instead provided non-fried cheese cake or sandwiches.

Trans fatty acid has been a controversial topic in the fast food industry overseas, however due to a lack of testing methods, not much attention has been paid to the substance in China. Companies like KFC have announced plans to stop using cooking oil that contains trans fat in all its 5500 stores in America by the end of April 2007.
