Tian Chengping, Minister of China's Ministry of Labor and Social Security, says that a wage payment security system will be established all around China to solve the problem of companies defaulting on migrant workers' salaries.

The supervising department within the Ministry recently carried out an investigation which showed that the reporting of these types of problems had decreased last year. Tian Chengping however says the labor contract system will be pushed in China this year to further protect the rights and interests of rural workers. Many migrant workers complain that their bosses often do not pay them promised wages, and they often have little recourse.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security also says that 25.38 million migrant workers in China now have industrial injury insurance and another 23.67 million joined the medical insurance system by the end of 2006.
