Famous Sportswear Brands Found To Contain Dangerous Substances
The National Textile and Garment Quality Supervision Testing Center in Guangzhou recently conducted a quality inspection among all the sportswear brands circulating in Guangzhou and the results are disappointing.
Brands like Etam, Adidas, Nike, Esprit, Only, Snoopy and Theme were involved in this test, and the results show that only 46% of them passed quality controls.
Among the products inspected, 15 batches of sportswear were found to contain dissolvable aromatic amines dye which is banned from being used in clothing because it may cause cancer when in contact with skin for a long time. 17 batches of products were unqualified because pH levels were either too high or too low. Another 14 batches had illegible or inadequate labaling.
The Guangzhou Municipal Administration of Industry and Commerce has not released the actual names of the companies who failed the National Textile and Garment Quality Supervision Testing Center tests, but it said it has asked sellers of the fauly clothing to stop sales immediately.
