April 5 was the first day that Wenzhou Municipal Environment Protection Bureau began to implement the rules listed in the "Circular on Checking Sewage Emission and Other Serious Pollution Behaviors", and Wenzhou Yuanfeng Paper Making Factory was the first company that has been identified and punished for sewage emission.

Wenzhou Yuanfeng Paper Making Factory, which is located at Niuqiao Road, Ouhai District in Wenzhou was releasing polluted water. As a punishment, Wenzhou Yuanfeng Paper Making Factory's equipment has been sealed, they have been asked to rectify their business within 20 days and pay a RMB100,000 as a fine.

Plating, chemical, dyeing and paper making sectors are the main pollution sources for Wenzhou. A representative from WMEPB says that they will ask any companies that violate the environment protection rule to stop production for no less than ten days and pay the maximum fine.
