Foxconn Donates E-Books To 31 Provinces
He Youcheng, vice president of Foxconn, announced at a charity event held in Shenzhen that Foxconn would donate a million sets of e-English Weekly Tutor books to 1 million children in 31 provinces and regions of China in the coming six years.
Each set of the e-English book donated by Foxconn will comprise 312 volumes and they are worth a total of RMB1.2 billion.
Foxconn's move has been highly praised by officials of the Shenzhen Municipal Publicity Department. The books it donates will be mainly given to children in the less developed and poverty stricken areas in western China.
Foxconn came under pressure last year when global news reports accused the company of not treating its employees fairly. The company subsequently allowed investigators to come to its embattled factory and has reportedly strengthened its management since that time.
