United Kingdom Poultry Import Applications Resumed In HK
Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety announced that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from the United Kingdom, except the county of Suffolk, would resume with immediate effect.
The Centre suspended processing of applications from the United Kingdom following confirmation of an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on a poultry farm in Suffolk in February.
"In view of the control measures taken by the United Kingdom and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications," a CFS spokesman said. "Restrictions are not lifted for Suffolk as we are still monitoring the situation there," he said.
