Guangzhou Destroys Fake Products
Over 182,000 fake products, ranging from sports shoes to computer disks, have been destroyed at Guangzhou's Tariff-free Zone.
The destroyed products involve 28 products such brands as Nike, Adidas, Sony and Toyota. A Huangpu Customs official told local media that they investigated 422 intellectual property rights related cases from 2004 to 2007 and in the first quarter of this year alone they investigated as many as 26 intellectual property rights related cases, which involved a total of RMB101.7 million.
According to Customs, trademark infringements have increased dramatically in the past years, and in 2006, trademark violation cases increased by about 60% compared with that of the previous year.
