China's local media reports that China will soon release its national blueprint for fighting climate change and the new blueprint, which has been brewing for many years, will further define China's stance as a responsible nation.

According to a representative from China Meteorological Administration, this blueprint will be formally released in mid-June. It combines China's objectives on energy-saving and environmental protection, including its plan of how to reduce energy consumption, increase forest coverage and natural reserves. It also covers the country's storage of carbon dioxide and methane, two main culprits that cause global warming.

The measure puts forward China's basic principles, objectives, key areas and measures to be taken to fight climate change in 2010. It is expected to help the international community to know more about China's efforts in meeting climate change issues and enhance China's cooperation and communication with other countries.

Led by China's State Development and Reform Commission, this new blueprint has been jointly drafted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and State Forestry Administration. This is the first time that so many government bodies have been involved in the single issue of environmental protection in China.
