The Beijing Drug Administration has halted the sales of ten types of medicines that have been involved in misleading advertising.

This is the first time that the drug supervision department has punished drug manufacturers for false advertisement since the newly revised Drug Advertisement Inspection Measure was enacted on May 1, 2007. Cong Luotuo, a spokesperson of BDA, said that the 10 kinds of medicines whose selling was halted were not fake medicines, but they made mistakes by misguiding consumers with exaggeration of the functions of their medicines.

Apart from being asked to stop selling the medicines, the manufacturers have also been asked to make corrections on the media where they advertised their products. BTA said that false advertising was for medicines used for treating high blood pressure, diabetes, and skin illnesses.

The ten types of medicines are:
