Shangri-La Mooncakes To Raise Funds For Charity
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will launch its first nationwide charity mooncake sale from August 2007.
Twenty-four properties in mainland China and Hong Kong SAR have joined forces to raise RMB1 million for Shangri-La's charity partner, Care for Children. Available from August until September 25, 2007, guests can purchase four pieces of mooncake in two assorted flavors packaged in specially designed Shangri-La metal mooncake boxes in silver and red, priced at RMB118 each. From every box of mooncakes sold, RMB40 will be donated to Care for Children.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently operates 21 hotels in mainland China, located in Beihai, Beijing, Changchun, Changzhou, Chengdu, Dalian, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Harbin, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Wuhan, Xian and Zhongshan; as well as two hotels and one private members' club in Hong Kong.
Established in 1998, Care for Children, is a Beijing-based non-profit organization that works in partnership with national and local governments to introduce foster care and other strategic initiatives for orphans and other needy Chinese children. It has trained over 184 orphanages throughout China and transformed thousands of children's lives as they move into their own families for the first time. Shangri-La became CFC's first and only hotel group corporate partner in 2005.

In conjunction with Starwood celebrating the signing of its 100th hotel in Greater China, Sheraton Shanghai Hotel and Residences, Pudong and Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Pudong had their own unique way of sharing this milestone by lending a helping hand to the children in the Shanghai Children's Medical Center in Pudong to build up their small "Sheraton Love" library.
