Universities Promote Sustainable Use Of Chopsticks
Eleven environmental protection groups from nine universities in China have joined forces to promote the use of environmentally-friendly chopsticks.
Their focus is to persuade cafeterias and students to stop using disposable wooden chopsticks. The universities include Harbin Institute of Technology, Heilongjiang University, Harbin Engineering University and Northeast Forestry University.
The environmental protection communities from these universities arranged some exhibits at their respective locations, calling on fellow students not to use disposable chopsticks and sending them chopstick covers free of charge. With the covers, they can re-use the chopsticks.
These environment protection communities hope to raise students' awareness through this activity. They have also issued a plea for college students across the nation to stop using the wooden disposable chopsticks.
