The Beijing Municipal Government has decided to limit traffic and reduce about one million vehicles of all sizes on the streets from August 7 to August 20 as a rehearsal for the traffic situation of next year's Olympic Games.

But it is not known whether the same measure as that adopted during last year's China-Africa Forum will be adopted this year. During the China-Africa Forum held in November 2006, 80% of the cars from Beijing government departments and 50% of cars from the central government, military and businesses were banned from the streets.

It is estimated by local media that Beijing will have about 3.3 million cars by the time the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games begin.
