BOOC Punishes Four Chartered Enterprises
After a month-long investigation, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee has found that four Olympic chartered companies have been involved in illegal labor use and these companies have reportedly been punished.
The companies include Dongguan-based Le Kit Stationery Company. The company was charged with employing child labor. Sun Weide, a spokesperson of BOOC, has told local media that BOOC had revoked the company's qualification as a chartered Olympic goods manufacturer and asked it to stop any production and sales activities related to Olympic goods.
According to Sun, BOOC has also suspended the approval of the product design of three other companies. They are Mainland Headwear Holdings Ltd., Yue Wing Cheong Light Products and Eagle Leather Products. They have been accused of asking workers to work excessive amounts of overtime. BOOC said that it had required these companies to rectify themselves according to the Labor Law of China.
