Chinese Academy of Sciences President Lu Yongxiang has held talks with Wheelchair Foundation Chairman Kenneth E. Behring in Beijing.

Lu, who is also vice chairman of the National People's Congress, said he appreciated what the Foundation has done for the drinking water safety in China's poverty-stricken areas. He also congratulated the successful initiation of the first pilot site for addressing drinking water safety in China's rural areas, a program jointly supported by the Wheelchair Foundation, China Welfare Fund for the Handicapped and CAS, applauding the move as a result of the common efforts and close collaboration among the three sides. He said that CAS will keep on with the cooperation.

Behring praised CAS efforts in the cooperation. He said the move would exert influence to win support from all walks of life and make it a long-term and sustainable project.
