Tetra Pak China Recycling Topped 4900 Tons
Tetra Pak China says in its first Environment Report that it has successfully recycled more than 4900 tons of waste, which are equivalent to 500 million Tetra Pak packages.
Tetra Pak has required each of its suppliers to ensure their cardboard comes from legal and well-managed forests. It says that the company's recycled packs quantity in 2006 increased by 76% compared with that of 2001.
Since 1979 when it began its business in China, Tetra Pak has been building its recycling network and spending over RMB10 million each year on recycling of used packaging materials.
Tetra Pak was set up in the early 1950s as one of the first packaging companies for liquid milk. it is currently one of the world's largest suppliers of packaging systems for milk, fruit juices and drinks, and many other products.
