Ministry Of Health Upgrades Supervision Of F&B Industry
China will adopt a food sanitation supervision classification system for food enterprises and targets to bring this new system to over 95% of the food enterprises across the country by the end of this year.
Chen Xiaohong, vice minister of the Ministry of Health of China, said at a national food safety meeting held in Wuhan that the classification management system can improve food enterprises' awareness of credit and management and it is useful for bringing the public's role in the supervision of food enterprises into play.
Under the food sanitation supervision classification system, restaurants will be classified into four classes of A, B, C and D based on their sanitation facilities and situation. Among them, "A" represents the highest level of credit and D the lowest.
Chen also says that collective eateries and food enterprises above county level must set up a certificate system for raw materials within the year in order to track the source of unqualified food.
