Chinese Female Entrepreneurs Make Pledges At Corporate Citizenship Forum
More than 300 female entrepreneurs from across Guangdong Province have come together in Shenzhen to join in a symposium jointly held by Guangdong Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association and International Labor Organization.
The attendees have signed a pledge to offer care to female migrant workers and making their enterprises open to these workers. The symposium "Building Harmonious Society and Good Corporate Citizenship" featured speeches from officials of ILO and discussions among the female entrepreneurs.
Zhou Liqiong, vice chair of Guangdong Provincial Women's Association, told local media that there are over 16 million migrant workers in Guangdong and half of them are female workers. Zhou says that in order to better ensure the safety and orderly flow of female migrant workers and children, Guangdong has set up home for female migrant workers in 13 communities in four trial cities.
In addition, Guangdong Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association has been working to advocate decent jobs be provided for young female workers and has promoted the establishment of female migrant workers' homes as a platform for their education, training, service, entertainment and exchanges.
