Zhang Zhikuan, director of Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce, said at a press conference that Beijing will set up a food safety command center for the Olympic Games to be held in August.

According to Zhang, the establishment of the Olympic Food Safety Command Center is expected to be formally started at the end of the first quarter of this year and it will be responsible for the centralized command of food safety during the Games, issuing warnings for food risks and dealing with food-related emergencies, along with Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee and Beijing Olympic Security Command Center.

Zhang says that BMAIC will set up four special teams for market control, intellectual property rights, consumer rights protection and food safety to ensure a good market order during the Olympic Games and to deal with related issues.
