Water Resource Protection Fund Unveiled In Shanghai
Shanghai Water Resource Protection Fund, the first special fund in China focused on water resource protection, has been unveiled in Shanghai.
In addition to promoting water conservation and water protection to the public, SWRPF, which was jointly initiated by such enterprises as Baogang Steel, SAIC Group, Shanghai Media Group, Shanghai Municipal City Construction and Investment Development Company and Tongji University, will actively invest in water processing projects and provide legal aid to victims of water pollution. Shanghai Municipal Water Affairs Bureau is the supervisor of SWRPF.
Liang Zhongping, secretary general of SWRPF, says that the water fund will not only serve Shanghai, but also the whole Yangtze River Delta region. SWRPF's funds will be used for waste water processing and water-saving technologies. In addition, it will invest 70% of its annual profits into social welfare projects.
