Beijing Will Open Special Fund To Aid Students From Earthquake Areas
The Education Work Sub-commission of Beijing Municipal Commission and Beijing Municipal Education Commission have announced plans to set up a RMB3 million special fund to assist students whose families have been severely affected by the earthquake.
At present, there are 14295 Sichuanese students attending college or university in Beijing. Of them, 4665 students' families have been affected by the earthquake. In addition, the families of about 1219 students from other provinces have also been affected.
The Education Work Sub-commission of Beijing Municipal Commission asks each institute of high learning to establish a long-term system to provide assistance to these students, know about the difficulties they encounter in their lives and study and organize psychologists to offer help to them.
