Hainan Province Will Set Up Ten Migrant Schools
Hainan Province says it will invest CNY190 million this year to build ten poverty alleviation migrant schools across the province.
According to reports from Xinhua, this educational poverty alleviation program of building migrant schools aims to have students of remote countryside or poor areas where the natural condition is bad and infrastructure is weak go to a township or county level school that has better conditions.
The program will first be carried out on a trial basis in five national level poor counties of Lingshui, Baoting, Wuzhishan, Qiongzhong and Baisha and five provincial level poor counties including Changjiang, Tunchang, Ding'an, Ledong and Dongfang. A total of ten schools with a total construction area of 137,7000 square meters will be set up in these counties to offer nine-year consistent education to students there.
The construction of all the schools is expected to be completed by February 20, 2009 and put into use for the spring semester of 2009. All the teachers for these schools are required to have at least a bachelor's degree.
