Jiangxi provincial government has signed letters of responsibility with county and town level government and related departments which say that from August 1, 2008 to July 1, 2010, wastewater treatment facilities in all counties and towns should be completed and put into use, and wastewater treatment rate should reach 70%.

In the next two years, there will be altogether 78 counties and towns that should construct wastewater treatment facilities, with a total investment of CNY4.55 billion.

The construction work for the plants is divided into three parts. By August 1, 2008, preparation work should be ready, including organization, capital and technology. From August 1, 2008 to July 2009, construction of the first batch of 45 projects should be finished. The second batch of 35 projects should be started before July 1, 2009, and completed before July 1, 2010.
