Paper Industry Sustainable Development Forum Held
The Paper Industry Sustainable Development Forum has been held in Hainan.
Experts from China National Forestry Industry Association and other organizations attended the forum and discussed the sustainable development within the industry.
According to the latest full statistics from 2006, waste water discharged by the entire industrial sector was 20.8 million tons, with the paper industry accounting for 17.98%; And the 20 million tons of wood used in the paper industry each year are equivalent to 200 million trees.
Xu Daping, an expert from Research Institute of Tropical Forestry, Chinese Academy of Forestry, says that integration of wood, paper pulp and paper is a better choice for modern paper making industry and forestry. Other experts at the forum agreed that the entire sector must focus on better ways to proceed in the future.
As part of its green commitment, Asia Pulp & Paper China says it will promote energy conservation and an emission reduction policy. While satisfying the increasing need for paper and supporting the economic sustainable development of China, APP China says it will make every effort to ensure a better natural environment, realize clean production and fulfill social responsibility.
