As part of JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai's Annual Charity Christmas Griffin Tree project, over 18 associates from the hotel visited the Shanghai Children's Medical Centre yesterday to donate a total of 88 Christmas Griffin Bears to the little patients in the Hematology and Ontology wards.
Each Charity Griffin Bear was purchased by guests and corporate companies during the Christmas season, creating a Griffin Bear tree on the 38th Floor Lobby Lounge of JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai.
The donation ceremony was held at the Department of Hematology/Ontology of Shanghai Children's Medical Centre. Every child in these wards received a Griffin Bear as a holiday season gift.
"Some of our little patients from previous years were looking forward to receiving the Griffin Bears since Christmas," said the director of Shanghai Children's Medial Centre Ms Ji Qing-Ying, "some children were so happy to receive the gifts from last year that they have been asking when JW Marriott Hotel will visit this year. The children here are so grateful for their gifts and for the hotel staff to take time out to visit them. We thank you for your kindness and generosity for the last three years and for always thinking of us!"

The Griffin is the legendary creature featured in the logo of the JW Marriott Hotel brand. It has the head, beak and wings of an eagle, the body of a lion and the tail of a serpent or scorpion. The Griffin originated from the Middle East and was frequently used as guardians and as a symbol of protection.
