Beijing Will Arrange Standards For Hutong Trips

The Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration (BTA) says that this year Beijing will organize the hutong travel market and make a unified standard.

In addition, the city will speed up the legislation for standards covering day trips around the capital city and the detailed rules about this are expected to come out within the year.

Beijing is famous for its hutongs, which are the old alleys running through the city's old inner walls and surrounded by courtyard apartments.

A representative from BTA says that in order to organize hutong travel, they need to compile new guide instructions and regulate the travel routes.

More travelers have been complaining in recent years of being cheated by the hutong tour operators, and BTA hopes the new standards will create a better environment for travelers.
