The Chinese government plans to invest RMB1.5 billion to recruit more than ten thousand undergraduates to teach in the western part of the country over the next five years.

The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Personnel and the State Commission Office For Public Sector Reform have jointly promulgated a plan to begin this program to set up special posts for teachers wanted at schools in the rural areas.

The "Special Post Plan" will be carried out in eleven provinces along with some counties in Hubei Province and Hainan province.

"This plan will not only improve the supply system of rural school teachers, but also help undergraduate students in employment," says Song Yonggang, vice president of the Normal Education Department of Ministry of Education.

The funds needed for the "Special Post Plan" will be offered by both the country's national-level finance department and some local finance departments.
