The Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission disclosed that this year the city will cancel the limits on electricity consumption during peak summer hours.
In addition, it will adopt the "different time period, different electricity price" policy on business and non-industrial users, apart from the industrial enterprises. Electricity in remote suburbs may be shut off once the electricity capacity is overloaded.
It is estimated that the maximum electricity capacity of Beijing is 12.20 million kw this summer and the city is short of about 500,000 kw electricity.
