Xining Environmental Protection Bureau says it will conduct an investigation among enterprises which are located near its river to eliminate any potential risk for dirty drinking water.
During the forthcoming investigation, a set of emergency meeting plans will be arranged and efforts will be made to supervise water quality in the rural areas and water resource areas.
A recent water quality inspection survey of Xining shows that in 2005, the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 water factories in the region produced good quality water, while No. 1 and No. 3 water factories, as well as the Duoba water factory, have had problems with sanitation seeping into the drinking water.
