The Shanghai Administration of Industry and Commerce has published the result of its quality inspection of air conditioners. It shows that one air conditioner made by LG is unqualified because they do not reach the specified level for energy saving.
SHAIC had conducted the inspection of 22 kinds of air conditioners, of which only LG's fission hanging air conditioner was found unqualified. This air-conditioner is sold by LG (China) Shanghai branch and its EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) is 2.48, which is much lower than the stated standard of 2.6 in China.
SHAIC will require outlets to stopping selling this type of air conditioner until the manufacturer can improve the quality. Air conditioners that have already been sold will not be recalled.

I am living in Guangzhou and have recently bought an LG Air Con/Heater. With the cold weather here now I switched on the heater to find that water kept flowing out of the Aircon and falling onto our neighbours patio, obviously they complained a lot(WE live on the 16th floor). We now have to turn off the Aircon during this very cold weather, the reason we bought it in the first place. When we approached LG, after two visits, both the engineer and LG Customer Support say that this escape of water during cold periods is normal and there was nothing they can do about it.
I told them if I had been told that, I would not have bought their Aircon.
Do you know where I can complain to? I am British and speak o Chinese.
Many thanks
Dewi Jones
This is normal for an air conditioner, if you imagine in summer the moisture that it removes from the air in your room produces the cooling effect much like a glass of ice cold water has condensation on the outside of it on a hot summers day, the air con works the same however in winter it is the opposite and whereas in summer the heat is going outside in winter the heat is coming in side and cold air is blowing outside of the unit.
THe only thing that could be done is a drain pan fitted under neath the unit and this water go away to a drain somewhere.
