The State Grid Corporation of China has donated RMB120 million to the China Youth Development Foundation to honor the 17th anniversary of Project Hope.
This is the largest donation ever offered by a state-owned enterprise to Project Hope over the past 17 years. The fund will be used to build 300 project hope schools in rural areas in China during the next three years.
As a backbone state-owned enterprise, SGCC says it has paid close attention to corporate social responsibility. Starting with this donation, SGCC will establish a SGCC Project Hope Foundation in CYDF for the purpose of giving long-term support to elementary education in rural areas of China. The donation from SGCC will be put into the construction of hardware facilities and libraries for Project Hope Schools.
Project Hope is a public welfare undertaking that attracts the most extensive participation and has some of the greatest influence in China. It has raised over RMB3.2 billion and supported more than 2.9 million children to continue their studies.
Gu Xiaojin, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Council of CYDF, says that CYDF will implement the administration rules of building Project Hope elementary Schools to ensure that the donation by SGCC is put into full use.
