Home furnishings retailer IKEA has issued a global recall for a Parodi brand glass vase which is fragile and may hurt consumers. IKEA's Beijing branch says that more than 300 vases were sold in Beijing last year.
Consumers who had purchased the vase now can unconditionally return the products to IKEA's Siyuanqiao store in Beijing.
IKEA has announced that the vases have been found to have too high internal stresses which may increase the risk of breakage, especially if the glass is damaged in some way, for example knocked or scratched. IKEA has received seven reports that users of this kind of vase were hurt.
The vase stands 70cm high and weighs approximately 5kg. Base diameter is 15cm; top diameter 23cm. The Parodi vase is produced in black (art. no. 20110234), white (art. no. 50112199) and clear glass (art. no. 00079545). The IKEA logo, article number and supplier number (18347) are printed on a white sticker on the underside of the vase and on the store receipt.
